I will miss this city. It’s not perfect, but it’s been a great home for the last ten (!) years. I’m already excited to come back full time and settle into my condo, if/when it’s ever done being built! But I wanted to take this opportunity, even in spite of all the global unrest and ever-changing travel rules, to live not just elsewhere, but rather elsewheres. As of this writing, I’m sitting in a very empty airport terminal in Lisbon, Portugal, having just barely made my flight from Boston to here because I thought a vaccine card would be sufficient proof of health to board my flight. I was incorrect. But I hauled ass to and from the testing center and made it happen in the nick of time. The last few weeks have been whirlwind, bordering on overwhelming. The stress of moving, the self-enforced pressures of work, and the endless details that went into planning this adventure all came to a very distinct head over the weekend, but once I was out of the apartment, it was considerably smoother sailing. Major shoutouts to my parents, Will, and Nick for helping me cram my entire life into a 10’ x 10’ storage unit (minus two suitcases and one backpack’s worth of belongings). Endless gratitude to Rafael for cat-sitting my baby while I’m away: I’ll miss her and think of her every time I look at the sticker of her I put on my Camelbak bottle. Extra shoutout to Will for housing me during my three-day interim between apartment and takeoff. And a huge thank you to everyone who made it to Easy Tiger on Monday night. Even if you couldn’t make it but wanted to, it means the world to me that you wanted to be there. And I’m still geeking out over how cute the balloons were (s/o to Jenn <3).
